Leonardo von Patrasso (* around 1230 in Guarcino ; † December 7, 1311 in Lucca ) was an Italian bishop and cardinal .

Life

He was a relative of Pope Boniface VIII , whose mother Emilia Patrasso also came from Guarcino. Leonardo Patrasso was also called Guercino , Gratino and Guerrino after his birthplace .

He met around 1247 as a canon of the cathedral chapter of Alatri . In 1264 he was appointed treasurer of the diocese of Patras by Pope Urban IV . Around 1295 Leonardo Patrasso was elected Bishop of Modon in Greece. On June 17, 1297 he was transferred to the bishopric of Aversa . After the death of Cardinal Hughes Seguin de Billon , Leonardo Patrasso was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Ostia and Velletri on February 25, 1298 , which he remained until February 1299. On July 20, 1299 he was made Archbishop of Capua .

Pope Boniface VIII appointed Leonardo Patrasso in the consistory of March 2, 1300 as Cardinal Bishop of Albano . As such, he signed papal bulls between October 2, 1300 and February 16, 1302. He participated in the 1303 conclave , at which Benedict XI. was elected Pope. On March 13, 1304 he again signed papal bulls. He was a participant in the conclave 1304-1305 , from which Clement V emerged as Pope. In 1309, Leonardo Patrasso became dean of the Holy College of Cardinals .

Two years later, Leonardo Patrasso died in Lucca while traveling to Rome for the coronation of Emperor Henry VII , which he undertook with two other cardinals. He was buried in the Dominican church in Lucca.
