The Camus Thailand Masters 1984 was a professional snooker tournament without any influence on the world rankings - a so-called non-ranking tournament - during the 1984/85 season . The tournament was held from August 27 to 31, 1984 in the Ambassador Hotel in the Thai capital, Bangkok . The winner was the Englishman Jimmy White , who could defeat the Welsh Terry Griffiths 4-3 in the final . Records of potentially high breaks are unknown.
Prize money
For the first time, the tournament was sponsored by the French cognac distillery Camus , but again there was no official prize money. However, since the tournament was part of a series of Barry Hearns Matchroom Sport and Camus-sponsored series of Asian tournaments, the players received free first-class flights as well as several bottles of cognac.
Tournament course
The six participants, among whom in addition to five professional snooker players with Sakchai Sim Ngam was again a local amateur player, played at the beginning in round mode within a group once against all other competitors. The first two places in the table resulting from the results finally met in the final to play off the winner of the tournament. While the total of 15 group games were played in the best of 3 frames mode, the final game was decided in the best of 7 frames mode .

final
The Englishman Jimmy White was the reigning vice world champion and had won three out of five possible games in this tournament in the group stage and thus finished second in the final table - tied with his compatriot Tony Meo , who had lost one frame more than White and was therefore in third Rank was led. In the final, he met the former Welsh world champion Terry Griffiths , who had secured first place in the table with five wins and had only lost two frames himself. No exact frame results are available from the final itself, but White was able to defeat Griffiths 4: 3 against the 2-0 defeat in the group stage and thus win the tournament.
