The 1985 Carlsberg Challenge was a professional snooker invitation tournament for the 1985/86 season . The tournament was established in July 1985 in the RTÉ Studios in Ireland Dublin discharged. The winner was the Englishman Jimmy White , who defeated the Northern Irishman Alex Higgins 8: 3 in the final. White also played the highest break of the tournament with a 122 break.

Prize money

The televised tournament was sponsored by the Carlsberg Brewery , which paid out a total of £ 28,500 , of which just under two-fifths went to the winner.

The Englishman Jimmy White was in the final for the second time in a row and met the Northern Irishman Alex Higgins . Both players had made it to the finals relatively contested; White had defeated his compatriot John Parrott 5: 3 , while Higgins had defeated the Canadian Cliff Thorburn in the Decider .

Even if there are no exact frame results, it is known that White won the final 8: 3 with the help of three century breaks .
