The 1999 British Open was a snooker tournament in the 1999/2000 season that was held in Plymouth from November 8th to 19th, 1999 . The tournament was brought forward from April to autumn, so that the British Open took place twice this calendar year, but they belonged to two different seasons. For the seventh time, the Plymouth Pavilions hosted the tournament.
Fergal O'Brien , the winner in April, only made it to the round of 16 this time. Reigning world champion Stephen Hendry won the tournament against Peter Ebdon with a 9-5 win in the final. For the Scots it was the third tournament victory in a row after the World Championship and the Champions Cup .
Main tournament
The top 32 of the world rankings were set for the first round. Another 32 had previously qualified for the main tournament in 2 rounds. They were drawn among the lawyers.
