The UK Championship 1999 was a snooker tournament that took place from November 20-28, 1999 at the International Center in Bournemouth . In the first all-Welsh final in tournament history, Mark Williams and Matthew Stevens faced each other. The previous year Stevens had lost the final and this time he was left behind again. World number three, Mark Williams, won his first UK Championship title with a score of 10: 8 and his first title this season in his third final.
In the round of 16, Stephen Hendry achieved the fourth maximum break in tournament history. For him personally it was already the seventh break in 147, just three months earlier he had done the same thing at the British Open . He had also reached the last UK Championship maximum in 1995.
Prize money
A sharp increase of more than £ 40,000 over the previous year brought the prize money almost to the limit of half a million. All seats benefited, but especially the players who were eliminated in Round 1 and received £ 1,100 instead of £ 235.
