The 2001 UK Championship was a snooker tournament that was held from December 3 to 16, 2001 at the Barbican Center in York . After sponsoring Liverpool Victoria ended , the tournament had moved from the south to the north of England after three years. The reigning world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan won the tournament for the third time after 1993 and 1997. The 10-1 in the final against Ken Doherty was the clearest win in a best-of-19 final at the UK Championship.
Prize money
Although for the third time in its history the tournament did not have a main sponsor, it saw the largest increase in prize money. More than £ 200,000 was additionally distributed, with the prize money alone being rounded up from £ 78,000 to £ 100,000. Reaching the TV stage of the last 32 was worth £ 9,200 instead of £ 4,900 previously. However, only the top 96 received prize money, the losers in the first qualifying round were left empty-handed this time.

Round 2 to the final
Century breaks
55 century breaks were achieved from the round of the last 48, 15 more than in the previous year, despite the shortening of the opening round to the best of 13. The most successful player was tournament winner Ronnie O'Sullivan , he scored three of his six breaks of 100 or more points in the semi-final game against Mark Williams .
Only the games from the round of 16 counted for the bonus for the highest break in the main round. The breaks from the first and second main round are therefore shown in italics.
