The Players Championship 2018 was a snooker tournament of the 2017/18 snooker season , which took place from 19 to 25 March 2018 in Llandudno in North Wales . The tournament took place at the same location for the second time in a row. The qualification took place across all tournaments of the season played up to then: The top 16 of the one-year rankings from the Riga Masters 2017 to the Gibraltar Open 2018 were eligible to start.

The defending champion was the Englishman Judd Trump . He lost in the semifinals to Ronnie O'Sullivan , who subsequently also won the tournament. O'Sullivan defeated Shaun Murphy 10-4 in the final .

Prize money

The prize money remained unchanged. While last year's £ 125,000 was the third highest prize money for a tournament winner, the tournament fell behind four Chinese tournaments this season.
