Scrupt (1793 Serupt , 1801 Serut ) is a French commune with 132 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Vitry-le-François and to the municipal association Perthois-Bocage et Der, founded in 2014 .

Scrupt is located in the wide Bruxenelle valley , about halfway between the towns of Vitry-le-François and Saint-Dizier in the historic Perthois countryside . Fields and meadows characterize the 11.46 km² municipal area. In the east, the municipality has a share in the large Bois de Maurupt forest . Scrupt is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Blesme in the north, Saint-Lumier-la-Populeuse in the northeast, Maurupt-le-Montois in the northeast and east, Saint-Vrain in the southeast, Heiltz-le-Hutier in the south and Haussignémont in the west.

Eight farms are located in Scrupt (cultivation of grain, pulses and oilseeds, cattle breeding).

Five kilometers southwest of Scrupt there is a connection to the motorway-like RN 4 from Paris to Nancy . Near Scrupt, the Blesme-Haussignémont – Chaumont railway branches off from the Paris – Strasbourg railway .
