The Evergrande China Championship 2016 was an invitation-only snooker tournament that was held from November 1st to 5th, 2016 in the city of Guangzhou in the southeast of the People's Republic of China . The tournament was added to the calendar for the 2016/17 snooker season in mid-September . The China Championship has been set up once as an invitation tournament and is to become a regular world ranking tournament from next season.
The winner was John Higgins from Scotland , who defeated Stuart Bingham 10: 7 in the final.
Prize money
The £ 200,000 for the winner was the largest ever cash prize for a snooker tournament outside the UK.

- the top 10 in the world rankings after the Shanghai Masters
- four other players in the one-year ranking of the Main Tour
- two players nominated by the Chinese association CBSA
- Ronnie O'Sullivan canceled his participation, and Mark Williams moved up for him
Tournament schedule
The tournament lasted 5 days, with two games per session and two sessions per day. The best of 17 mode was already played in the semi-finals . It was the third tournament after the World Cup and the International Championship in which the semi-finals were no longer decided in one session.
