The Indian Open 2016 was a snooker tournament as part of the Snooker Main Tour in the 2016/17 season , which was held from July 5th to 9th in Hyderabad . It was the third edition of the Indian Open . The tournament did not take place last season. The event date changes this season back to the first half of the season.
The winner was Anthony McGill from Scotland , for whom it was the first tournament victory on the Main Tour. Up until then, he had never made it past the quarter-finals at a world ranking tournament, but at the Scottish Open 2012 , a minor tournament with a similar format to the Indian Open, he had already made it to the final. Final opponent Kyren Wilson was in the final for the second time and had won his first tournament last year.
