Wang Yuchen ( Chinese  王雨晨 ; born August 5, 1997 in Henan ) is a Chinese snooker player .

Career

Beginnings

In the 2012/13 season Wang Yuchen first took part in the Players Tour Championship . After he had reached the main round at the opening tournament of the partial series taking place in Asia and was eliminated there by Ben Woollaston , he made it to the round of 64 at the second APTC tournament , in which he lost 4-0 to Englishman Stuart Bingham . In the third tournament he was eliminated again in the first main round. In June 2011 he made it into the finals for the first time at the U21 World Cup , where he lost to Laxman Rawat in the round of 32 . On the Main Tour 2012/13 he received a wildcard at four world ranking tournaments. He was eliminated in the wildcard round at the Shanghai Masters and the International Championship 2012 as well as at the Haikou World Open and the China Open 2013 .

After Wang was eliminated in the preliminary round in his first participation in the Asian Cup in May 2013 , he again reached the round of 32 at the 2013 U21 World Cup . In September 2013, he received another wildcard at the Shanghai Masters . With a 5-3 win over Joe Perry , he made it into the main round of a world rankings tournament for the first time, but in the round of 32 he lost 5-1 to Neil Robertson . At the Players Tour Championship 2013/14 he took part in the four tournaments of the Asian Tour. After he had reached the second round at the Zhangjiagang Open 2013 , he moved into the round of 32 at the Zhengzhou Open 2013, where he lost 4-1 to his compatriot Liu Chuang . In the 2014/15 PTC season , he reached the second round at the 2014 Haining Open and the round of 32 at the 2015 Xuzhou Open .

In July 2015, Wang Yuchen moved into the semi-finals of the U21 World Cup after victories against Ratchayothin Yotharuck , Siyavosh Mozayani and Ashley Carty , where he lost 7-0 to eventual world champion Boonyarit Keattikun . At the Shanghai Masters 2015 he started again as a wildcard player. In the wildcard round he lost 5-1 to Kyren Wilson , the eventual winner of the tournament. In October 2015 he was eliminated in the first round of the Haining Open , the only tournament on the Asian Tour 2015/16 . A few days later he reached the main round of a world ranking tournament for the second time at the International Championship with a 6: 4 win in the wildcard round against Aditya Mehta , in which he lost 6 1: 6 to Joe Perry in the round of 64. In March 2016, Wang became U21 Asian champions with a 6-5 final win against Ratchayothin Yotharuck and qualified for the following two Main Tour seasons. A few days later he received a wildcard for the China Open , where he was eliminated in the wildcard round with 0: 5 against Martin O'Donnell .

Professional seasons

Season 2016/17

In the season 2016/17 started with a defeat against Wang Xiao Guodong in the qualification for the Indian Open . He had his first professional win three days later in the qualifying round of the World Open when he defeated Jamie Jones 5-2. At the finals in Yushan , however, he lost 5-1 to Jimmy Robertson . At the 2016 International Championship , he beat Rory McLeod in qualifying before being beaten by compatriot Xu Si 5-6 in the wildcard round. He scored two more victories in his first professional season: at the UK Championship 2016 he defeated former world champion Peter Ebdon 6-5 in the first round and at the Welsh Open 2017 he won 4-3 against Gareth Allen . In the qualification for the Snooker World Championship he was eliminated in the first round with 2:10 against Scott Donaldson . At the end of the season he finished 103rd in the world rankings .

Season 2017/18

In his second professional season, he withdrew his participation in the Riga Masters , for which he was qualified because his qualifying opponent Rod Lawler failed to take part. At the China Championship he lost his opening match in qualifying 5-1 to Yan Bingtao . At the Paul Hunter Classic he lost 1: 4 to Stuart Carrington in the first round . His first win of the season was in qualifying for the Indian Open . In the first main round he lost 4-0 to David Gilbert . At the World Open he was defeated by Mark Allen 1: 5 in the qualification , at the subsequent European Masters he was also eliminated in the qualification, this time with 2: 4 against Aditya Mehta . At the English Open he was eliminated in the first round with 2: 4 against his compatriot Xiao Guodong , at the International Championship he lost in the qualification with 5: 6 against Yan Bingtao. He reached the main round of the Shanghai Masters with a 5-1 win over David Grace , but he lost 5-1 to Mark Williams . At the Northern Ireland Open he defeated Scott Donaldson 4-2 in the first round , before failing 3: 4 to Akani Songsermsawad . At the UK Championship he lost 4-6 in the first round against Jack Lisowski and at the Scottish Open he lost his first round game against Niu Zhuang 3-4 . He missed the main round of the German Masters in Berlin after beating last year's finalist Ali Carter 5-3 with a 5-0 defeat in the second qualifying round against Mark Joyce . In the first round of the shoot-out , he lost in the first round with 14:22 on points against the former professional Kuldesh Johal . At the Welsh Open he lost 4-1 to Peter Ebdon in the first round , followed by a 4-6 defeat in qualification against Mark Selby at the China Open . In the first qualifying round for the World Snooker Championship , he lost 6:10 to David Grace. He finished her season on world number 94 , which was not enough for a qualification for the next season.

Further career progression

Wang immediately tried to re-qualify through Q School. In the first two tournaments he lost in the first round to Kristján Helgason , in the second against Louis Heathcote . In the third tournament he lost after victories over Zak Surety and Mitchell Mann in the semi-finals of his group against Ashley Carty .
