The Bank of Communication Shanghai Masters 2012 was a snooker tournament as part of the Snooker Main Tour of the 2012/13 season , which was held from September 17 to 23, 2012 in the Shanghai Grand Stage in Shanghai .
Defending champion was Mark Selby , who was knocked out 5-1 by Jamie Cope in the first round .
In the final against Judd Trump , John Higgins managed the 91st official maximum break in the sixth frame . It was the third 147 break this season and the sixth by John Higgins as well as the third that Michaela Tabb was referee. Then the Scot was able to secure the tournament victory with a narrow 10: 9 success, although he was already behind with 2: 7.
