The Munich Open 2013 ( also known as the Arcaden Munich Open according to the main sponsor ) was a snooker tournament that was held in 2012 and 2013. In the previous year the tournament was named FFB Snooker Open 2012 .
The Munich Open was the last of the 13 individual tournaments of the Players Tour Championship 2012/13 and the last opportunity to qualify for the tour finals. As in the previous year, the tournament was divided into two parts, but with one change: The first two rounds were held in England at the end of November 2012 , the remaining 32 participants played the winner in Fürstenfeldbruck in the first week of January 2013 . Last year there were three rounds in Sheffield and only the best 16 players came to Germany . The mode with a top 32 final tournament had already been practiced at the Gdynia Open 2012 .
132 players had registered for the tournament, but many top players stayed away from the tournament, including the meanwhile world number one Judd Trump and four other top 10 players.
It was won by Englishman Mark Selby , who had taken first place in the ranking a month earlier with his victory at the UK Championship . Selby had also won the other German tournament on the European Tour, the Paul Hunter Classic in Fürth .
The entire tournament, including the final, was played in the best-of-seven mode (four winning frames).
Preliminary round
On November 26th and 27th, 2012, the first part of the tournament took place at the Sheffielder Snooker Academy. Eight players had to play a preliminary round to complete the 128 field of the first round. The 32 winners of the second round qualified for the final tournament. Shaun Murphy , Stuart Bingham and Ding Junhui were eliminated early on from the top players .

Finals
The remaining 32 players competed against each other in the first week of January 2013 in the city hall of the Fürstenfeldbruck event forum. From January 4th, two tournament tables were played; the final took place on Epiphany.
The biggest surprise of the opening round was the elimination of Neil Robertson despite the 3-0 lead against the Norwegian Kurt Maflin . In addition to the fifth in the world rankings, the sixth Stephen Maguire , who was the defending champion, was eliminated . Thus the number one Mark Selby and the number 15 Graeme Dott were the best-placed players among the last 16. They also prevailed against the remaining competition and contested the final, in which Selby prevailed 4-3.
