2013

The FFB Snooker Open 2012 (also called the Arcaden Shopping Open 2012 according to the main sponsor ) was the twelfth event of the Players Tour Championship 2011/12 . The snooker tournament was held in two parts: On December 15 and 16, 2011, the first three rounds took place in the World Snooker Academy in the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield , the tournament finale from the round of the last 16 took place in the event forum in Fürstenfeldbruck ( License plate FFB) near Munichcarried out. It was the twelfth and last individual tournament in the PTC series before the final tournament and was televised as one of the six European tournaments, or at least the final round.

Only after Fürstenfeldbruck was selected as the second venue in Germany for a PTC tournament on this year's tour did it become apparent that the premises were insufficient for the full event. The load-bearing capacity of the planned rooms on the first floor for the approximately 1.5 ton snooker tables was questioned. Therefore, for the first time, it was not possible to hold a complete PTC tournament in three days. It was therefore decided to switch to the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield and play the first rounds of the main tournament in the week after the UK Championship immediately before Event 11 of the tour , which is also taking place in Sheffield . On the planned three days in early January 2012, only the last 15 games from the round of 16 to the final took place in Fürstenfeldbruck.

As in the previous year, many players who were no longer interested in qualifying for the final did without the last tournament in the series, which is why only a starting field of 128 participants was put together. An originally planned qualifying round for amateurs was therefore omitted. Tournament mode was best of seven for all games including the final .

An amateur cup was played parallel to the tournament, the winner of which was given a wildcard for the German Masters 2012 . The final of this cup was played on the table of the main tournament.

On the first day of the tournament, Matthew Stevens and Ding Junhui were the first two players to achieve an official maximum break on the same day .

Round 1 to 3

Half of the participants played their first three rounds on Thursday, December 15th, the second half on December 16th. The games took place in the Sheffielder Snooker Academy.
