Finals
The 24 players who had won the most prize money in the previous twelve tournaments in the PTC series were eligible to participate. Participation in at least half of the tournaments, three in the UK and three in Europe, was also required. The eight players with the most prize money initially received a bye and only started in the round of 16. The game was played in the knockout mode Best of 7 .
Defending champion Shaun Murphy missed the qualification as 37th in the prize money ranking.
In the first round, the No. 51 in the world rankings, Xiao Guodong from China, and the Welshman Jamie Jones caused surprises. The Chinese, who played with a broken left hand, beat Dominic Dale 4-2. Jamie Jones was 3-1 behind in the first round match against reigning world champion John Higgins when he started to catch up, won the following three frames and made it to the round of 16. In his game against Andrew Higginson it looked at the score of 2: 3 and 1:59 points after a match point for the Englishman; but this missed and Jones secured the win of the frame with the black. In the decisive frame, the Welshman was unlucky when he lost the black in the security game. Higginson could now decide the frame and the match at an open table.
Xiao prevailed 4-2 in a terrific game against the No. 1 on the seeding list, Judd Trump , and thus made it into a quarter-finals on the Main Tour for the fourth time in his career. World number one Mark Selby beat the Chinese 4-1 after a 1-0 lead from Ding Junhui .
The second seeded Ronnie O'Sullivan had to cancel his first round game due to illness and gave Ricky Walden the ticket for the quarter-finals .
In an interview before his quarter-final against Stephen Lee , Mark Selby was asked how he would assess his opponent. Selby said that Lee has become very strong again in the current season after weaker years and should not be underestimated. His assessment should prove to be true. Lee knocked Selby 4-0 off the table and moved into the semi-finals as the second player after Stephen Maguire . In a quarter-final marked by mistakes, Andrew Higginson beat Xiao Guodong 4-1 and advanced to the semi-finals as Stephen Lee's opponent. Neil Robertson completed the second semifinals with his 4-1 win over Joe Perry .
In the first semi-final game of the last day of the tournament, Andrew Higginson was unable to prevail despite a Century Break of 104 against Stephen Lee (2: 4), who continued to play strongly, who himself contributed a Century of 102 and was the first finalist. In the second semi-final game, the winner of the previous PTC tournament from Fürstenfeldbruck and finalist of the German Masters , Stephen Maguire, suffered a heavy defeat (0: 4) against the winner of PTC events 6 & 8 , Neil Robertson. Robertson scored his second Century Break in this tournament with 110 points. Stephen Lee also demonstrated his strong form in the final. He dominated Neil Robertson in a one-sided final at will and won the final 4-0.
