Career

MacKenzie began his professional career in 1997 and reached the 2004 Daily Record Players Championship for the first time in the main round of a world rankings tournament. However, he had to accept a first round defeat against Marco Fu there . In 2006 he even made it to the second round of the China Open . At the UK Championship 2006 he also moved into the finals.

Already in the 2007/08 season things weren't going so well for him and he was only just able to defend his place on the professional tour. After he only won three games in the following season, he had to leave the Main Tour and announced his retirement.

For the 2011/12 season, however , he managed to return to the Main Tour with his first place in the Scottish national ranking. On his return, he showed a solid performance at the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open , winning his first three qualifying games.
