Chen Feilong ( Chinese 陈飞龙 , Pinyin Chén Fēilóng ; born October 4, 1982 in Sichuan ) is a Chinese snooker player . In 2018 he became a professional on the Main Tour .
Career
Chen Feilong was already one of the older players when more and more young talent came from China in the late 2000s. He was particularly successful in the national tournament series and became famous around 2010 when he defeated the exceptional Chinese player Ding Junhui three times within two years. Internationally, he made his first appearance at the China Open 2012 . He received a wild card from the Chinese Association but lost his qualifier against Ben Woollaston 5-1. At the Shanghai Masters 2012 , Chen was able to defeat Fergal O'Brien 5-2 as a wildcard player before he was eliminated in the main tournament against Neil Robertson . At the International Championship , O'Brien retaliated and defeated him 6-3.
Chen also took part in the Asian tournaments of the Players Tour Championship from 2012 , but was almost always eliminated in round 1 or 2. Only at the Dongguan Open 2014 did he make it into the bottom 32 after defeating Zhang Anda . In the 2017/18 season , Feilong took part in the China Open and the 2017 Shanghai Masters , winning the wildcard round, but losing both times his qualifying round match against an English professional player. This season he was again one of the best players at national level. He and Zhang Jiankang were the top two amateurs on the CBSA China Tour . For this achievement he got the professional status at the age of 35 and qualified for the 2018/19 and 2019/20 season of the Snooker Main Tour .
