Michaela Tabb (born December 11, 1967 in Bath ) is a former British pool and snooker referee .

Life

Tabb herself was an active pool player. As such, she won the UK Women's Pool Championship in 1997 and the Women's World Cup the following year. From 1997 she became a referee, initially in the 9-ball pool , where she directed games at the St. Andrew's Cup and Mosconi Cup .

Tabb had her first appearance at a world ranking tournament for snooker professionals in 2002 at the Welsh Open, she led the game between Ken Doherty and James Wattana .

At the World Cup at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield, it was used for the first time in 2003 in the game between Mark King and Drew Henry . She wrote snooker history on February 18, 2007 at the Welsh Open: she was the first woman to lead the final (between Andrew Higginson and Neil Robertson ) of a world ranking tournament for snooker professionals.

She is now highly regarded by both players and fans. One of her nicknames is "(The) LadyRef" ("ref" is an English abbreviation of the word "referee" for referee).

On May 3rd and 4th, 2009, Tabb became the first woman to lead the final of the World Snooker Championship . On May 6 and 7, 2012 she was again referee in the final of the World Cup . In the final of the Shanghai Masters 2012 , Tabb accompanied a maximum break for the third time in her career .

On September 9, 2012, she presided over the final of the World Cup of Pool at Robinsons Place in Manila , Philippines .

On March 19, 2015, after 14 years, she retired as a professional referee for the World Snooker Circuit.

Tabb is married. She lives in Dunfermline with her husband, Scottish pool player Ross McInnes, and their two children .
