A hamlet-like small settlement on the edge of the Thuringian Forest in the Wartburg district in Thuringia is known as Glücksbrunner Werke . It belongs to the Schweina district of Bad Liebenstein .

The district is located about three kilometers west of Schweina on the L 1126 state road.

history

In the 13th century, the Walpolderoda court was part of the castle district of Frankenstein Castle . Walpolderoda was given to Allendorf Monastery by the Counts of Frankenstein . Splinter property in the vicinity of Steinbach and Schweina also belonged to the property of this formerly free farm . After the fall of the monastery in the Peasants' War, the homestead came to Klaus Johnbach , who sold the farm to the noble court lord Hans Hund von Wenckheim (junior) in 1588 . The place existed as an agricultural estate for 150 years.

Glücksbrunn Palace in Schweina was commissioned by Hofrat Johannes Trier in 1703. With the start of the mining of cobalt ores in the Schweina mining area, financed by Trier, the new blue paint works on Gumpelstädter Straße was built on the Walpolderodaer Grund in 1714 , from which the current district owes its name. As recently as 1754, 23 mining pits can be found that supplied the plant. The impending decline of cobalt and copper mining was delayed several times by new investors, but in 1908, after 500 years, mining had to be finally stopped due to depletion of the deposits. The former factory buildings were given a new purpose, later some workers settled on the street, creating a hamlet-like settlement.

In June 2009, 16 residents lived in the district.
