The SangSom 6-Red World Championship 2016 was a Six-Red-Snooker invitation tournament of the Snooker Main Tour of the season 2016/17 , which took place from 5th to 10th September 2016 in Bangkok , Thailand . It was the eighth edition of the 6-Red World Championship .

The defending champion was Thepchaiya Un-Nooh from Thailand . The winner was a player from Asia for the second time in a row: The Chinese Ding Junhui defeated world number two Stuart Bingham 8: 7 in a hard-fought final .
