The 918.com German Masters 2016 was a snooker tournament of the Snooker Main Tour of the 2015/16 season . It was held from February 3rd to 7th, 2016 in the Tempodrom in Berlin . For the sixth time in a row since its reintroduction in 2011, the professional tournament was held in Germany.
The Englishman Martin Gould won a full world ranking tournament for the first time with a 9: 5 win in the final against the Belgian Luca Brecel . For Brecel it was the first final participation in a Main Tour tournament, whereas Gould had already reached the final of the Australian Goldfields Open this season .
The defending champion was world number one Mark Selby , who was knocked out 3: 5 by Stephen Maguire in the round of 16.
Prize money
This time, € 32,000 more than in the previous year was distributed. The bonus for reaching the round of 32 increased by € 1000 and that for the second qualifying round by € 500.

qualification
As in the previous year, the qualifying venue from December 17th to 20th 2015 was the Robin Park Arena and Sports Center in Wigan near Manchester. From Thursday to Saturday, 128 participants played the first round. The 64 winners competed a second time on Saturday evening and Sunday to play off the 32 participants in the main tournament in Berlin.
