The Gibraltar Open 2015 (also European Tour 2015/16 - Event 5 ) was a snooker tournament that was held from December 9th to 13th, 2015 in the Tercentenary Sports Hall of Gibraltar . The British mainland holdings hosted a professional tournament for the first time. The minor ranking tournament was part of the Players Tour Championship , which was part of the 2015/16 snooker season .

Marco Fu won the tournament with a 4-1 win in the final against Michael White from Welsh . It was his first win at a PTC tournament and his third tournament win on the Snooker Main Tour . He also scored a maximum break in the second main round , the fourth break of 147 points in his career.

Prize money

The prize money was the same as in the other tournaments of the European Tour this season.

Preliminary round

107 professional players and 72 amateurs had registered for the tournament. The professionals were set for the main tournament; the amateurs had to play for the remaining 21 places in two qualifying rounds. For the first time a player from Gibraltar and a player from Morocco were represented at a PTC tournament. In addition, six players from Germany drove to the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula. Daniel Schneider was the only one to make it into the main round. In his third year on the European Tour, he was among the bottom 128 of a tournament for the first time.

All games were played in the best of 7 frames mode. The following pairings were scheduled for the two preliminary rounds on November 4th and 5th:
