The Kaspersky Lab Riga Open 2015 (also European Tour 2015/16 - Event 1 ) was a snooker tournament that was held from July 29th to August 2nd, 2015 in the Latvian capital Riga . It was the first event of the Players Tour Championship 2015/16 and the first tournament of the European Tour . This made it an official minor ranking tournament on the Main Tour in the 2015/16 season . It was the second edition of the Riga Open after the tournament had taken place for the first time the previous year . Defending champion was the Englishman Mark Selby , who was eliminated 1: 4 in the round of 32 against the Irish Ken Doherty . In the final, Englishman Barry Hawkins beat his compatriot Tom Ford 4-1.

Preliminary round
195 players registered for the tournament. In two elimination rounds the field was reduced to 128 players. All games were played in the best of 7 frames mode. All five German participants made it into round two, Lukas Kleckers , Roman Dietzel and Robin Otto even made it into the main round.
