The Masters 2016 was an invitation tournament and part of the 2015/16 season of the Snooker Main Tour . For the fifth time it took place at Alexandra Palace in London .

The defending champion was the Englishman Shaun Murphy , who already lost the opening match against Mark Allen 4-6. The winner was Ronnie O'Sullivan with a 10-1 win over Barry Hawkins . It was the biggest win in a best-of-19 final at the tournament. For O'Sullivan it was the sixth Masters title, drawing level with record winner Stephen Hendry .
