The Benson & Hedges Masters was an invitation-only snooker tournament of the 1978/79 season , which was played from January 22 to 26, 1979 at the Wembley Conference Center in London . It was the fifth edition of the Masters.

Perrie Mans won the first Masters at the Wembley Conference Center in the final against defending champion Alex Higgins 8: 4.
