Colin Humphries (born in Netherley , Liverpool , England ) is an English referee for the snooker variant of billiards .

Life

Colin Humphries was born and continues to live in Liverpool, England. He owns a farm with his sister and brother, which they run together and works as a civil servant. He began to referee in 1988 and received his qualification as a professional game director in 1994. He directed his first professional game in 1996, the first televised game he directed in 2005. The first final of a professional tournament he directed was the 2009 Welsh Open with Ali Carter and Joe Swail as finalists. So far (November 2019) he has led three maximum breaks . He cites the greatest embarrassment of his career that after Ronnie O'Sullivan had punched a black ball, he took it out of his pocket and put it back on, but it was a previously punched red ball.

In addition to working at the table, snook referees also have tasks in the background. As markers , they control the scoreboards, keep the game record and, if necessary, help the table referee to restore the original game situation after a miss .

He is a loyal fan of Everton FC and plays snooker himself in his spare time, with a maximum break of 68. During a game he has several ball markers in his pocket in addition to a two- pound coin, but as little as possible, the pocket should not jingle.
