The Coral World Grand Prix 2019 was a snooker tournament of the Snooker Main Tour of the 2018/19 season . It was held from February 4th to 10th, 2019. After two years in Wales and two years in Preston , the fifth edition of the tournament took place in Cheltenham . The venue is The Centaur , an event building belonging to the well-known horse racing track .

The 32 most successful players in the one-year ranking of the season so far from the Riga Masters 2018 to the German Masters 2019 , which ended just before the start of the tournament, were qualified for the Grand Prix .

For the first time, the World Grand Prix was part of a tournament series called Coral Cup , which is sponsored by the new sponsor, the betting company Coral . This is followed by the Players Championship with the top 16 of the season ranking and finally the newly introduced Tour Championship , the top 8 final.

Last year's winner, Ronnie O'Sullivan , lost his opening match 2: 4 against Marco Fu . The winner was the Englishman Judd Trump , who defeated his compatriot Ali Carter 10: 6 in the final and thus won the tournament for the second time after 2015 .
