Peggy Li

Peggy Li (* 1984 ; Chinese name Li An ) is a Chinese snooker referee .

Career

In the late 1990s, Peggy Li went to Australia to study there. She learned to play snooker there and played in league and state tournaments. In 2012 she won the Queensland women's championship .

In the league games, players also helped out as referees and so she gained her first experience. As a foreigner, however, she could not play in national tournaments, so in 2010 she made the Class 3 entry certificate in order to be able to be a referee. Two years later she was already a class 1 referee and was also active in international tournaments. In 2013 she led a semi-final at the amateur world championship and in 2014 the women's world championship final. In 2013 she returned to her homeland in Beijing and was then used by the professional organization WPBSA as a referee at tournaments in Asia.

She directed her first final at the 6-Red World Championship 2015 in Thailand . A month later, she was a referee at a ranking tournament of the Players Tour Championship , the Haining Open . It had its first big final in Mark Selby's 10-1 victory over Ding Junhui at the 2016 International Championship in Daqing . She also directed the finals of the Shanghai Masters and the China Open . There she was also the referee of the first round game in 2018, in which Ronnie O'Sullivan improved his own record with his 14th maximum break . In the same year she made her debut at the World Cup .
