The Assetereum World Seniors Championship 2018 was the third of four events of the World Seniors Tour 2017/18 . It was held in Scunthorpe , England . The winner was Aaron Canavan , who also qualified for the professional World Cup.

Prize money

The total prize money was ₤ 18,500, which is the same as last year . In addition, the winner received 10,000 and the second 5,000 units of the crypto currency Assetereum . Another prize was awarded for the highest break, the amount of the break was multiplied by 30 and this amount was paid out in the crypto currency. In addition, there was also a starting place for the winner in the qualification for the snooker world championship 2018 .

Eight “legends” of snooker were set for the main tournament. The eight remaining places went to the winners in qualifying tournaments.

The invited players were ranked according to the number of their world championship titles , the number of triple-crown victories - and ranked tournaments. As Willie Thorne , Tony Drago and John Parrott were unable to participate in the tournament due to injuries or personal reasons, they were replaced by the top three players on the ranking who had not yet qualified.

Tournament course

The games were played in best-of-5 mode up to the semi-finals , the final was decided over a maximum of seven frames. Instead of a whole decision frame , as is usually the case, only the black ball was placed again in this tournament ( re-spotted black ). The players only had 30 seconds for a push.
