The 1994 International Open was a snooker tournament for the 1993/94 season that was held from February 13-19 at the Bournemouth International Center . The previous year the tournament had taken place in Plymouth , but the British Open had moved there. That is why the tournament moved along the English south coast to Bournemouth and was brought forward from April to February.
Defending champion Stephen Hendry was eliminated this time in the quarterfinals. In the final, the world number two John Parrott defeated the Thai James Wattana with 9: 5. It was the ninth victory of an Englishman in the 10th edition of the tournament under the name International Open .
Main tournament
As in the previous year, the top 32 of the world rankings were set, 32 players who had emerged from the qualification were drawn to them for the first round. Because of the high number of participants, 9 qualifying rounds had to be played. The tournament mode remained the same except for the final. In the previous year it was played for the first time as a best-of-19 match, now it has returned to best of 17 as in 1989.
