Hadassa Ben-Itto (born May 16, 1926 in Brzeziny , Poland ; † April 14, 2018 in Jerusalem , Israel ) was an Israeli lawyer , diplomat and author .

Ben-Itto was born in Poland and immigrated to Israel. In 1948 she took part in the War of Independence as an officer . She studied law in the United States and the United Kingdom. From 1960, she was an Israeli professional judge for 31 years, including at the Supreme Court , and taught criminal law at Bar Ilan University .

Ben-Itto was twice a member of the Israeli delegation to the UN General Assembly in New York and represented Israel at the UNESCO Conference on Human Rights in Paris in 1982 . Since 1988 she has been president of the "International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists". In 1999 she was honored with the Zeltner Prize, an award for lawyers from the State of Israel.

In 1991 Ben-Itto published her book " The Lie That Wouldn´t Die: The Protocols of the Elder of Zion " about the origin and dissemination of the so-called Protocols of the Elders of Zion . It was translated into nine languages and appeared in an inadequate German text version without scientific claim and apparatus under the title: “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Anatomy of a falsification ”(Aufbau-Verlag, Berlin 1998; ibid. Paperback edition 2001). In doing so, the author relied on the minutes of court hearings in Bern and South Africa (both 1934).

In Germany, a reviewer criticized in 1998 that the author used literary stylistic devices and, in his opinion, resorted to outdated research by the historian Norman Cohn .

Ben-Itto died at the age of 91, leaving behind a daughter.
