Retaliation is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The film starring Harald Krassnitzer as Austrian investigator Moritz Eisner was first broadcast on March 6, 2011. In his 24th case, Eisner works for the first time with Bibi Fellner ( Adele Neuhauser ), who was previously with the " custom ". Tanja Raunig also took on the role of Eisner's daughter Claudia for the first time, previously played by Sarah Tkotsch .

action

For the third time, a legally convicted juvenile violent criminal was killed in the same way. At the scene of the crime, Chief Inspector Moritz Eisner learns that Bibi Fellner, an alcohol-addicted colleague from the moral police, is supposed to support him in his investigation. Eisner's objections to his superior Ernst Rauter were unsuccessful. The first clues lead the investigators into the Dr. Jochen Schmitz managed the Pro Youth facility , in which all three victims were to be rehabilitated. There, juveniles who have committed criminal offenses are offered therapeutic help to avoid imprisonment.

Celine Stein, the daughter of pop singer Jaqueline Stein, was also looked after at Pro Youth . After the young woman was attacked and beaten up, her life is in danger. Fellner believes that this can also happen to other young people who work for Dr. Schmitz were in treatment and warns Kira, a young woman she already knows from her time with the custom.

Reports from police files show that Celine and friends tortured and beat a former educator in a similar way to what has now happened to her. A visit to the woman, who is still being cared for as an inpatient, shows that Jochen Schmitz, the head of the youth facility, is her life partner and that she was pregnant in the attack at the time and that she also lost their child.

When Fellner comes home that evening, Kira is sitting in front of her door. She was also beaten up. The investigator takes the young woman in. Later she found evidence of a drug in the waste that made it insensitive to pain, but also made psychologically unstable, and that is widespread among young people.

Eisner and Fellner see on DVDs that Kira's mother's friend secretly recorded in the apartment that Kira was obviously friends with Jan Scheidl, one of the murder victims. In addition, they discover on other tapes from the subway, on which the murder of Scheidl can be seen, that the murderer has painted fingernails, which allows the conclusion that it could be a woman. Kira is now very suspicious. Meanwhile, Celine Stein dies in the clinic as a result of her serious injuries. In order to lure Kira out of the reserve, Bibi tells her that Celine is better and that they will soon find out who committed these acts. The plan works, because Kira immediately drives to the hospital to kill Celine. There she only meets Eisner and Fellner. In the course of the following conversation it emerges that Kira is supported by Dr. Schmitz was manipulated by means of psychological influence and medication and, as it were, abused as a murder tool. Eisner and Fellner want Kira to help them, Dr. To expose Schmitz, but Kira is able to escape and armed with a knife immediately drives to Dr. Schmitz. Eisner and Fellner take up the pursuit. When you arrive at the facility you can hear gunshots in the stairwell. When they come into the apartment, Kira is already dead on the floor. She has Dr. Schmitz was injured with a knife, but had to pay for it with her life.

reception

On ORF 2 , an average of 990,000 viewers watched the premiere, which was the best value for an Austrian Tatort broadcast since 2004 and a market share of 31 percent.

criticism

The reviews were mostly positive, in particular the acting was praised. Freddy Langer said in the FAZ : “Adele Neuhauser is great.” She plays her character close to the track. She is not “the first colleague that Harald Krassnitzer is put to the side at the ORF crime scene, but she is the first established woman. And it is wonderful how the two balance between laconism and fatalism - especially since the script pays surprisingly little attention to them in the midst of an almost unmanageable number of storylines. ”It is astonishing“ the dedication with which director Wolfgang Murnberger shows all kinds of grotesque details in his film 'Retribution' accommodates. Viennese humiliation and Viennese actionism fall upon each other when a pop star from the gossip press learns of their friend's new love, while one room further the treated children scream the anger out of their stomachs and next door Harald Krassnitzer - as if all of them were enough Haematomas of those involved are not excluded - of all things, in front of a painting like the one that Hermann Nitsch had thrown with blood and waited for an opportunity to talk. "

The Rheinische Post summed up: "The Austrian crime scene with the peculiar investigative duo awaits with a case whose plot and resolution are grotesque , but exciting."

TV Spielfilm came to the conclusion: "Great resolution, strong characters."

The Focus -Redakteur Joachim Hirzel came to the conclusion: "Vengeance is an evocative journey through a part of society that is broken in terrible ways. From within, from within. Because the parents failed, treated their children antisocially - and they then also became: antisocial. "

Rainer Tittelbach judged as follows: “A murderous serial killer plays an angel of revenge, young people run amok. Eisner's new colleague is also a difficult case: 20 years with the custom - the soul needs high-proof. The good person and the border crosser, Harald Krassnitzer and Adele Neuhauser - that is [sic] an excellent combination. As different as the characters and the mentalities of the two actors are, they both meet wonderfully in Wolfgang Murnberger's concentrated, realistic tone. And the not unexciting case about the empathy impotence of the parents & the merciless anger of their offspring has above all thematic qualities. "

The TV magazine prisma says: “After the episode ' Deadly Greed ' this is the second 'Tatort' that Wolfgang Murnberger staged with Harald Krassnitzer. The screenplay was provided by actor and author Uli Brée […], who this time wrote the template without his permanent partner Rupert Henning. The result was a rather leisurely fall that only gradually builds up tension. Murnberger has already delivered significantly better crime novels with ' Taxi for a corpse ', ' Silentium ' and ' The Bone Man '. Adele Neuhauser is good, however, who for the first time gives the alcohol-dependent investigator Fellner a successful antithesis to Chief Inspector Eisner. "
