Peter Ponger

Peter Ponger (born May 19, 1950 in Vienna ) is an Austrian jazz pianist and film composer .

Life

Peter Ponger studied piano at the Vienna Conservatory and at the Juilliard School in New York City . In 1975 Ponger became a member of Leszek Zadlo's ensemble , and three years later a member of Passport's band under the direction of Klaus Doldinger . He also played as a guest musician with OM . Ponger went to New York in 1979, where he played with saxophonist Steve Grossman and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis . In 1990 he founded the Peter Ponger Trio. In Europe he worked with the electric bassist Jeff Berlin , the percussionist Trilok Gurtu and the drummer Alphonse Mouzon . Peter Ponger is the twin brother of music producer Robert Ponger .
