from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Ponger (born May 19, 1950 in Vienna ) is an Austrian music producer from Vienna.

He discovered the Austrian pop star Falco and initiated his solo career. The hit Der Kommissar (1981) as well as Falco's first two albums, Einzelhaft (1982) and Junge Roemer (1984) , were produced in collaboration . In 1983 he also produced the single Lust am Leben for Udo Jürgens , which, however, had little success and is now a sought-after collector's item.

In 1990 he teamed up with Falco one last time to produce the album Data de Groove , which became a commercial flop.

Robert Ponger is the twin brother of jazz pianist and film composer Peter Ponger .
