Death and Games is a television film by Maris Pfeiffer from the crime series Tatort , which was broadcast for the first time on October 7, 2018 in the ARD Das Erste program. It is the 1067th episode in the crime scene series. For the investigators Faber, Bönisch and Dalay , played by Jörg Hartmann , Anna Schudt and Aylin Tezel , it is their 12th case, and for the new chief inspector Jan Pawlak ( Rick Okon ) the first.

action

A homeless man happened to find charred human bones in a pit in an abandoned factory hall in Dortmund and the police later found a key to a hotel room in the same place. In this a starved and intimidated boy of Eastern European or Asian origin is found who can neither be identified nor interrogated, but reacts to the name Kambarov. Chief Detective Bönisch, who used to frequently use the hotel herself, rents undercover there and establishes contact with the Russian oligarch Kambarov, who also has a room there.

The autopsy of the bones reveals that they point to a male martial artist in his early 30s who had numerous badly treated bone fractures and died of a fractured skull. A third arm bone suggests that more than one body was cremated in the pit. Chief Detective Pawlak lets himself into a local martial arts studio, which has come into the focus of the investigation.

Kambarov, who claims to buy the football club Borussia Dortmund, invites Bönisch to a secret, illegal mixed martial arts fight, in which the visitors pay very high entrance fees to see how only one person at the end of a fight is of men will survive. If none of the participants dies, the prize money will be canceled. During the final fight of a tournament, a police special task force moves in and prevents one of the fighters from killing the other. Behind the fights are the owner of the martial arts studio and the hotel receptionist. Both are arrested for inciting murder.

The boy is the son of one of the burned fighters. His father had told him to go to Kambarov if he disappeared, and he would help him. Kambarov is also willing and takes the boy into his care.

criticism

“In its good moments, this 'crime scene' is like a vodka swiping: quick exchanges, warm colors, with an aftertaste of gentle melancholy. [...] Not that we have anything against a slightly lighter color of Germany's probably darkest 'Tatort' area. We wish with all our hearts that Faber finds life again and Bönisch finds love. "
