The Central German Media Promotion GmbH (MDM) is the regional film funding institution of the country Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia , based in Leipzig .

history

The company was founded in January 1998 by the states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The aim is to promote the economic development of the film and media industry in these federal states. In November 1998 Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk and ZDF joined as additional partners.

advancement

Around 14 million euros annually are available for funding the areas of cinema and television film productions, young talent, screenwriting, multimedia, project development, distribution and other measures. The MDM allocation committee decides on the allocation of funds four times a year.

MDM Film Commission

The MDM Film Commission supports domestic and foreign production companies with filming in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. She forms the interface between filmmakers, regional service providers and municipalities, helps with the location search and filming permit procedures. Extensive and constantly updated address and motif databases for the region are provided online. In 2003 service points were opened in Thuringia (Erfurt) and Saxony (Dresden), and in 2013 in Saxony-Anhalt ( Halle ).
