Guido Maria Kretschmer (born May 11, 1965 in Münster ) is a German fashion designer . He also works as a television presenter and juror , for example at Shopping Queen .

Life

Kretschmer was born in Münster in 1965 and grew up in one . After studying medicine for two semesters, he began his design career in Ibiza with a small stand with self- sewn clothes on the popular hippy market on the Balearic island. It was here that the musician Udo Lindenberg noticed him, who ordered brocade jackets for his tour at the time .

In 1987 Kretschmer won his first major tender and founded the company "GMK by pepper" with headquarters in Münster and Palma as well as the fashion label "Guido Maria Kretschmer Corporate Fashion". With initially three employees, he mainly worked as a fashion designer for large companies. His first major order was the creation of uniforms for the crew members of the Hapag-Lloyd airline . In addition to corporate clothing for Deutsche Telekom , Hotel Kempinski , Hotel Maritim , Montblanc and Emirates Airlines , he produced around two and a half million suits for the tourism group TUI . With the establishment of the label “Guido Maria Couture” in 2004, he put his creative focus on designing exclusive cocktail and evening dresses as well as accessories arranged for them . He presented his first fashion shows in this category in Shanghai and Tokyo .

In 2005 he presented his creations for the first time at the Berlin Fashion Week . The actress Katharina Thalbach had Kretschmer designed a stage wardrobe for an Oscar Wilde piece . Since then he has worked as a costume designer for various theater and film productions. So Kretschmer u. a. the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin for the production of The Barber from Seville , and in the film sector he was involved in costume design for Hands off Mississippi , Meine Schöne Bescherung and Rubbeldiekatz . He also took a guest role in the last two films. His label is regularly represented at major fashion shows. Celebrities like Charlize Theron , Jane Seymour , Patricia Kaas , Iris Berben , Martina Gedeck , Jasmin Wagner and Heino Ferch wear his creations. He has showrooms in Münster, Berlin and Palma de Mallorca and opened a shop in Munich in 2009 .

Since January 2012 Kretschmer has been presenting the TV show Shopping Queen on VOX and since April 2012 also its promo version. A special collection “Guido Maria Kretschmer for eBay ” was created in the period up to April 24, 2013 as part of a crowdsourcing project, in which visitors to the project website could vote on the collection and later production. In 2013 and 2014 Kretschmer worked alongside Dieter Bohlen , Bruce Darnell and Lena Gercke on the show Das Supertalent as a juror. His first book, Attraction - Style knows no size was published in 2013 . Since autumn 2014, Kretschmer has also been advertising for OGI Oil & Gas Invest AG. He is an ambassador for the German Stroke Foundation .

On September 8, 2018, he married his long-term partner Frank Mutters, with whom he had already entered into a registered partnership in March 2012 in the Schöneberg Town Hall .
