The magazine was first published on April 15, 1958 by Handelsblatt-Verlag . The first editor-in-chief was Erhard Knoth and the working group of German sales manager clubs, the predecessor association of the German Marketing Association, and the Nuremberg Marketing Society acted as the publisher .
The magazine's readership mainly includes managers and decision-makers from the areas of management , marketing , communication and sales . Eight regular issues and two special issues for the Brand Award and for the German Marketing Day are published each year. The website absatzwirtschaft.de is also part of the magazine's offering.
The magazine has been published by Planet C, a subsidiary of the Handelsblatt Media Group for corporate publishing, since February 2019 . The publisher of the magazine is still the German Marketing Association.
Brand Award
Since 2001, together with the German Marketing Association, the magazine has been presenting the brand award for excellent performance in brand management in categories such as best new brand , best brand relaunch or best brand expansion.
