Editor-at-Large

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An editor-at-large is a journalist or freelance publisher who contributes content to a publication. Sometimes he is also referred to as a roving reporter ("wandering reporter") in the English-speaking world .

In contrast to an editor who works as a permanent employee for a medium on a daily basis, the Editor-at-Large contributes content at irregular intervals and therefore usually has less influence on areas such as layout , photo design or alignment of a medium. He is under the direction, control and supervision of the publisher's management and editor-in-chief, but may often contribute his own research ideas and concepts for the respective medium. The editor-at-large has no special tasks, but is often allowed to work on topics and stories that interest him personally.

In practice, publishers define the area of responsibility of an “editor-at-large” differently in the respective job description.
