Partnering

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Partnership was the term for the process of entering into a registered partnership under the Civil Partnership Act , which was used in Germany in official use by government agencies, but also in the general language of non-governmental associations and interest groups.

Partnering as the acquisition of a binding recognition of a relationship in the form of a registered partnership was a form of marriage (marriage), just like marriage . The latter, however, does not lead to a registered partnership, but, as the name suggests, to a marriage .

As in the case of marriage between men and women, the registry offices were responsible for the partnership ( § 1 LPartG). In Bavaria also the possibility that partnering was notarized perform.

According to the respective municipal fee schedule, the fee rate for a marriage was usually charged for a partnership . In some municipalities, especially in the Free State of Saxony , 2.5 times the rate was sometimes charged.

In 2013, around 35,000 same-sex couples lived in Germany as registered partnerships. 57 percent of the registered partnerships were led by men.

Partnership as marriage

The word marriage is also used for a partnership between people who have reason to mention same-sex relationships without wanting to emphasize the exclusivity of the heterosexual way of life, in order to express their conviction of the equality of heterosexual and homosexual partnerships. This can appear in media reports or in private language among friends.

A partnership designation as marriage can also be part of the PR activities of associations, as in the case of the LSVD , which distinguishes between "VH" for married and "LP" for partnered, but nevertheless urges the desire to expand the term: How will we designate our partnerships ourselves? We are sympathetic to lesbians and gays who speak confidently of the fact that they are "getting married" or "married" and who introduce their husband and wife for what they are, namely "my husband" and "my wife" .

The equality of partnering with a marriage as a marriage was also subject to criticism, as it simulated a non-existent equivalence.

The possibility of partnering was abolished in Germany with the introduction of marriage for homosexual couples on October 1, 2017.
