Andrea Willson

Andrea Willson (* 1962 in Heidelberg ) is a German screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Andrea Willson was born in Heidelberg, but grew up in the USA and Switzerland. After completing a bachelor's degree in sociology at Boston College , she began a career as an editorial assistant at the New York television station WNET Public Television. Willson then returned to Europe and from 1990 worked as a freelance journalist for, among others, Deutsche Welle , for which she produced several TV reports and short documentaries.

In 1992 Willson moved to TaurusFilm, where she was responsible for the development and evaluation of scripts and treatments as a dramaturge . In 1994 she took over the management of content development at the Tele München Group . In the same year she switched to ProSieben , where she was entrusted with the development and production of TV and cinema productions. In 1996, Willson took over the position of Head of Fiction at RTL II , before she was appointed Managing Director of Columbia Pictures in 1998 to found the company and set up the Deutsche Columbia Pictures Filmproduktion (DCP) with the aim of producing three to four German theatrical films per year. Andrea Willson took over the management. In early 2004, Willson moved to Falcom Media.
