Harald Glööckler , bourgeois Harald Glöckler (born May 30, 1965 in Maulbronn - Zaisersweiher ), is a German fashion designer and entrepreneur who is particularly known for his rhinestones and glittering creations. Glööckler's trademark is a crown motif, which is often supplemented by a "POMPÖÖS" lettering.

Life

Glööckler's parents had an inn . He has a brother who is two years his junior. When he was 14, according to his mother, died as a result of falling down a staircase caused by his father. Officially, an accident was stated as the cause of death. In the following 13 years until his death in 1992, he did not speak a word to his father.

Glööckler was already interested in fashion in his youth and sewed evening dresses for friends. He completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman in the Sämann fashion store and initially worked as a salesman in the men's department of a fashion house in Mühlacker . On November 30, 1987, together with his partner and manager, the men's outfitter Dieter Schroth , he opened the “Jeans Garden” fashion store in Stuttgart , where they initially mainly sold jeans and shirts designed by Glööckler. The name of the fashion shop was later changed to "Pompöös". In 1990 they both founded a fashion label under the same name. In 1994 they organized their first own fashion show in the New Palace in Stuttgart . A song called Pompöös is my life was produced for the fashion show, and a music video was also made for it. After performing at his own fashion show , Glööckler appeared in costumes as a music group Pompöös in 1995 together with Dieter Schroth and other members , including in the television programs Nachtclub Hexenkessel , Arabella and RTL Nachtshow . In the same year he won Gina Lollobrigida and Chaka Khan as customers and made friends with them. Lollobrigida opened its second fashion show, which took place in the old riding arena in Stuttgart in 1995 , and Chaka Khan and Grace Bumbry also performed . In 1997 Glööckler was invited to Hong Kong with his fashion show for the tenth anniversary of the Interstoff Asia trade fair . When he returned from Hong Kong, differences arose with a silent partner who withdrew from the company in 1998 in a dispute. The store in Stuttgart had to be closed as a result. He was invited to Rome by Lollobrigida and learned his love for painting from her. Back in Stuttgart in 1998 he opened an art gallery with his own pictures. In the same year Glööckler was invited to the Düsseldorf fashion fair CPD , for which he organized the opening show, where Brigitte Nielsen also presented her fashion.

In 2000 Glööckler moved from Stuttgart to Berlin. There he furnished the Christmas revue Jingle Bells in the Friedrichstadt-Palast with his creations and designed around 350 costumes for the dancers. In 2003 he received the Berlin Bear Prize awarded by the Berlin tabloid BZ and the Berlin city magazine tip selected him among the "100 most embarrassing Berliners". In 2009 he launched the Harald Glööckler Angel Award, endowed with 5000 euros , with which he honors women who have distinguished themselves through humanity and social commitment every year. In 2011 Glööckler designed their own jewelry collection for the discounter Lidl . In 2012 he created women's clothing and accessories in cooperation with the mail order company bonprix and also brought out his own wallpaper collection. In 2013 a collection followed in cooperation with the menswear label "Masterhand", which was presented for the first time on June 15, 2013 at the Interbride wedding fair . His first lighting collection "Glööckler by EGLO", which was created in cooperation with EGLO Leuchten , was presented for the first time in 2014 at Light + Building . At the end of January 2015, Glööckler presented a napkin collection that he designed exclusively for the Duni company .

Glööckler has lived in Kirchheim an der Weinstrasse with his life and business partner Dieter Schroth since July 2015 . He has been living with him in a registered civil partnership since February 11, 2015 .

On behalf of the German Bible Society , Glööckler designed a book slipcase for the new edition of the Bible translation in 2017, the year of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.

In July 2018, Glööckler suffered an anaphylactic shock after an allergic reaction , which he survived thanks to immediate emergency medical treatment.

Others

In 2004 he had himself portrayed naked for the animal welfare organization PETA with the slogan “Animals wear fur, people wear fashion”. Glööckler sees himself as the inspiration for Sacha Baron Cohen for his title character from the film Brüno .

After Glööckler met the managing director of the teleshopping channel HSE24 in Berlin in 2004 , he started selling his products on television in Germany. At first only with fashion, later also with home textiles and furnishings that he designed. Teleshopping appearances in Great Britain for QVC UK and 2009 in Japan for Shop Channel followed . In June 2010 he had his last broadcast on HSE24 . Glööckler has been under contract with QVC Germany since January 2011 . He regularly moderates the sales programs of his products himself, whereby he appears strongly extroverted .

In 2010 and 2011, Harald Glööckler was a permanent member of the jury in the dance program Let's Dance on the private broadcaster RTL . At his appearances, Glööckler was often noticed because, in addition to a lot of jewelry and rings, he also wore rhinestones on his face from time to time, as well as eye-catching clothing from his own women's collection. In Great Britain, ITV Studios produced the documentary Harald Glööckler: Prince of Fashion in 2010 for the broadcaster Living .

On January 1, 2012, VOX broadcast the documentary Mr. Glööckler is moving , in which Harald Glööckler was shown moving his company and residence from Berlin-Charlottenburg to Berlin-Mitte (“ Unter den Linden ”). The weekly personality documentary Glööckler, Glanz and Gloria was broadcast on VOX from July 3, 2012 to August 21, 2012 . In March and April 2013, VOX showed the second season, but the audience ratings were significantly lower than the first season. In November 2013, Glööckler announced that he would no longer appear on television outside of his QVC sales programs in the future. However, in 2016 he was part of the jury at RTL II - Plus-Size-Model - Castingshow Curvy Supermodel - Echt. Nice. Curvy . He also invited the presenter Pierre M. Krause with his interview format Krause comes to his Château Pompöös in Kirchheim for two days (first broadcast on SWR February 23, 2018).

He announced the publication of his song Wir sind VIP , produced by Mike Rötgens, in the Bild newspaper in November 2019 . The song had its TV premiere in July 2020 in the ZDF television garden .
