Plus size model
Plus-size model or curvy model ( English oversize model or curvy model ) is the name for a model who does not have the slim physique usual for most models , but is more likely to be overweight or full figured .
Plus-size models are booked especially when fashion that is specially tailored to the body shape of people of normal weight is to be presented effectively. Since the 2000s at the latest, they have also been increasingly used when thin or skinny models are to be avoided, as a large part of the population cannot identify with them. In addition, due to some scandals surrounding skinny models , the reception of such a slim figure has shifted more and more to links with substance abuse and eating disorders , while they had previously been marketed as a youthful ideal like British model Twiggy since the 1960s .
criticism
Some plus-size models criticize the addition PLUS as a form of discrimination and want to be perceived as normal.
Australian model Stefania Ferrario wears size 40 and started the #DropThePlus campaign.
