Season 1 (2016)

procedure

Five episodes were broadcast from October 5 to November 2, 2016. From the 40 applicants shown - a total of over 5000 women had applied - the jury selected ten finalists in the first episode, who moved into the model villa. In episode 2 a makeover took place under the direction of the "hair expert" Eren Bektas . Then the women presented themselves in the inner city of Munich in underwear , whereby their bodies were painted with positive labels, but mostly with negative expressions that they had to put up with earlier. In this way, they became part of the BodyLove campaign by photographer Silvana Denker. Most recently, the candidates presented wedding dresses in the garden of Guttenburg Castle , after which two of them were eliminated.

In episode 3, Glööckler practiced the right appearance for a fictional teleshopping channel with the candidates . An alleged trial shoot turned out to be a real casting by the plus-size mail order company Happy Size . Celine Denefleh and Michaela Pieterek represent its campaign . This was followed by catwalk training under Ted Linow . In the decision-making walk, the women presented lingerie , the jury removed another candidate from the competition.

Episode 4 began with a casting for a jeans campaign by the plus-size label sheego , for which the candidates presented themselves in a combination of jeans and a white top. Celine Denefleh got the job again. For a commercial shoot with a male model in Ibiza , the model aspirants received a teaching in advance . Fabienne Klamandt and Aurelie Ceauty shared a photo job for KiK , the former came up with the brochure cover. A quick change challenge combined with the representation of joy, anger and sadness formed the final criterion for the jury to approve two other candidates.

Episode 5 began with the campaign shoot for Studio Untold . Then the model aspirants had to attract the attention of children in Disneyland Paris in a princess outfit. There was another shoot in this costume. Before the final with three candidates, Aurelie Ceauty told the jury that she didn’t like modeling; the jury took Polina Kudina out of the running as the second candidate. The final walks had to be completed in a “rocking” outfit with a leather jacket and an evening dress, after which Celine Denefleh was declared the winner.

Season 2 (2017)

procedure

The second season with seven episodes aired from July 17 to August 28, 2017. In the first two episodes, beginning with an initial “mass casting” on the Riem racecourse , in which each of the jurors awarded 15 “golden tickets”, the progress of some of the candidates was shown. After the joint show on the racecourse, the 60 selected model aspirants had to move individually in front of the jurors and required three approvals from them in order to advance into the "recall".

The task there was to present themselves to four or five people in an oversized box of chocolates as “chocolates”. On the basis of the photos taken, the jury selected 30 candidates. At the end of the second episode, they had to pose for an hour as a marble statue against the background of a baroque castle.

The third episode showed a “shooting battle” with a male model under the theme “Two princesses fight for a king”, after which a candidate got a job for a fashion series in the women's magazine Joy and five others were eliminated. A “battle walk” in a palace hall meant the end for nine other applicants. In episode 4, after the hair-changing makeover and a run in underwear, the jury said goodbye to one candidate and another two after a “quick change walk”. The women had to change in three groups of five between two runs in a stretch limousine.

In episode 5 in the Kurhaus Göggingen , 13 dancers were available for a " dirty dancing " in which the model aspirants had to use their curves in free choreography - for one candidate this was the end, for two others a subsequent fictional lingerie shoot in which was kissing a male model in a negligee and lingerie to be taken off. In episode 6, three women from the top ten had to say goodbye after a bikini walk, and another two after a nude shoot with a photographer during which the male jurors were not present. In episode 7, one of the five finalists was eliminated after a photo shoot, and another after the jury viewed recordings from a commercial shoot. After a walk with three costume changes, the jury declared Hanna Wilperath from Cologne, 24, 176 cm tall, the winner.

Others

  • In the run-up to this, advertising posters with ten participants in the first season who covered their bare breasts with their hands were rejected by Deutsche Bahn . RTL II produced a new poster for their advertising space.
  • Immediately after the first three episodes, Curvy Supermodel - Das Magazin , moderated by Sarah Lombardi, was broadcast for 30 minutes and with background reports . Lombardi also acted as an advisor to the candidates in the first two episodes.

Season 3 (2018)

procedure

The third season with again seven episodes was broadcast from July 26 to September 6, 2018. In episode 5, the candidates had to complete a photo shoot and a walk as showgirls in the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus under the motto Moulin Rouge . Five of them were selected for their first job, a video clip from the Happy Size company . One candidate then left voluntarily. After social media training with the curvy model Sarina Nowak , the candidates had to portray being in love with a male model according to their own choreography . Two model aspirants had to leave the show after the jury's verdict, so that the field of candidates in this episode thinned from three to nine fellow campaigners.

Episode 6 continued in Andalusia . After a quick change on the beach, two participants were bid farewell before a nude shoot with a white cloth had to be completed in the same place, followed by a walk in flamenco costume in a public square. Two other participants solved the two tasks the least convincingly and dropped out. The winner of the show was 18-year-old Ines Dahmen from Cologne.

Reviews

“True stories from authentic candidates are the strength of 'Curvy Supermodel'. [...] The biggest weakness of the show lies in the apparently unwritten law not to criticize and to always be very mild with the candidates. So it is not clear to the viewer which criteria the jury has now used and that makes 'Curvy Supermodel' a kind of feel-good TV that the inclined viewer might not expect in this form on RTL II. "

- Timo Niemeier : dwdl.de

"[...] One would like to force the entire jury to a 'dickdickDICK!' - primal scream therapy, so penetratingly euphemizing the bodies of the candidates are described as 'curvy' [...]"

- Anja Rützel : Spiegel online
