Joy (English for joy) is a German women's magazine .
The magazine was published monthly from 1995 by the Marquard Media Group , which wanted to appeal to a younger target group than the magazine Cosmopolitan . In the following years license editions were published in other countries. In May 2012, the magazine was sold to the Bauer Media Group , which has since been the licensor of the international editions. From September 2019, Joy was produced together with Closer , InTouch and Shape by a joint editorial team led by Angela Meier-Jakobsen in Hamburg . Previously, the editorial office was in Munich . Since August 2020, the German edition has been published ten times a year by the Kiel publisher Ocean Global, which acquired a license for it from the Bauer Media Group. The sold edition is 83,578 copies, a decrease of 42.7 percent since 1998. In addition to the German edition, seven international licensed editions are published.
The magazine was created from the spin-off launched in 2003 Joy Celebrity 2004 Celebrity , which was rehired of 2008.
The magazine has been presenting the Joy Trend Award since 2007. For one month, readers have the opportunity to vote on the website for trend products in the categories beauty, fashion and lifestyle. The winners are chosen by readers and an expert jury. Several prizes can be awarded in each category.
