The EGLO Leuchten GmbH (short: EGLO ) is an Austrian family and the world leader in decorative LIVING ROOM and outdoor lighting and lamps with a focus on LED . The company's headquarters are in Pill ( Tyrol ). Around 300 employees control all essential processes from this location. The company operates worldwide with 4700 employees and 68 sales companies.
history
Ludwig Obwieser claims to have the idea of founding EGLO while on vacation in Italy . In 1969 Obwieser founded EGLO and opened the first shop in Wattens in Tyrol, where he also sold other electrical appliances in addition to lights . In 1976 the construction of an own production facility with 1600 m² in Pill in Tyrol followed, which still serves as the company's headquarters.
In 1986, with the establishment of the first sales company in Germany, the internationalization of the company began, which today has 68 sales companies worldwide. In countries where there are no sales companies of their own, trading partners take over the marketing.
In 1994 a production facility and a central warehouse were established in Pásztó , Hungary . A central warehouse was set up in Pill in 2000 and another in Oosterhout , the Netherlands , in 2006 . In 2003, investments were made in own production facilities in Dongguan , China , and in 2015 in Bawal , India .
Over 900 new products were developed in 2017. This means that an average of almost 4 new products were developed every working day. The product portfolio is also constantly being expanded. The latest product lines include, for example, EGLO Connect (smart home lighting) and fans (in Australia).
Warehouses and production facilities
EGLO operates three central warehouses (Hungary, Austria, Holland) and 17 national warehouses. Distribution to Europe and to warehouses outside Europe such as Chile , Brazil , Canada , Mexico , Japan , Australia and India is carried out via the central warehouse in China . The total capacity of the warehouses is 200,000 m³.
With its production facilities in China , Hungary and India, EGLO covers 90% of luminaire production in- house . With these three plants you are able to manufacture up to 80,000 products a day. According to the company, around 25 million lights are produced each year.
