Environmental media award

The Umweltmedienpreis (official spelling UmweltMedienpreis ) honors outstanding literary and journalistic achievements in media that deal with the preservation of the natural foundations of life. It is annually from the Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) e. V. awarded, supported by Deutsche Telekom .

History

The Environmental Media Prize is awarded as an honorary prize to authors, journalists, editors and filmmakers who deal with environmental issues in a way that is appropriate for the public and who create awareness for environmental protection and species protection. Contributions from environmental groups and bloggers that provide incentives for action on natural issues and consumer protection are also recognized. The Environmental Media Prize was first awarded in 1988, from 1994 every two years until 1998, then again in 1999 and annually since 2001. Before 2010 the award was given under the name “DUH Environment Media Prize”.

Environmental award 2018

On November 21, 2018, the prize was awarded in the print media, online, radio and film / television categories. For the first time there was an audience award, which was nominated from over 120 submitted proposals. The winners were:

In 2019 the Environmental Media Prize will be awarded for the 24th time. The federal executive board of Deutsche Umwelthilfe decides on the award. The prize was awarded at a public event on November 13, 2019 in Berlin.
