My best enemy was a German game show that first aired on December 6, 2014 on the private broadcaster ProSieben . In the show, the candidates had to pass various tests of courage and tasks and compete against each other on a course. However, the prize for the winner went to the winning candidate's best friend. The show was moderated by the duo Joko and Klaas .

Game concept

The basic concept of the show is to put a friendship between two candidates to the test. The candidate receives a prize if his friend passes a task for him. The friend only finds out about his participation in the program immediately before he gives up.

The existing tasks usually require courage (e.g. actions at great heights, ice diving, buckling up on a racing car) or are particularly uncomfortable or embarrassing for the candidate (e.g. a rap performance at a Kollegah concert or a kissing scene with another man in a film by Matthias Schweighöfer ). If the candidate's friend passes the task successfully, the candidate receives a television set and a small nonsense gift as a prize. These tests of courage are recorded by four candidates in advance and shown as a clip in the show, another candidate is taken from the audience during or before the show and has to perform the task directly in the course of the program. In the show itself, all five candidates then have the opportunity to set their prices, so that their friend can participate in a course in which a. Concentration, dexterity, speed and getting a tattoo are required to compete against the friends of the other candidates. The one who completes the course fastest enables his friend to win a car. In the first four episodes this was a Porsche 911 (built in 1983), in the fifth episode a Mercedes SL 450 (built in 1977).

My best enemy is originally a rubric from the TV show Circus HalliGalli , which takes up the concept of the neoParadise rubric wishes you never had . It was introduced at Circus-Halligalli in the third edition on March 11, 2013 and was subsequently a regular part of the program, and there was also a television to win. ProSieben spokesman Christoph Körfer announced in spring 2017 that no new editions are currently planned for this year.

Andrea Zschocher from stern.de judged the show: "It is part of the concept of a good Saturday evening show that excitement, fun and play are combined. Joko and Klaas took this recipe to heart for" My best enemy "."

"My best enemy [is] clearly a show by big boys for little boys with their constant clapping, the competition nonsense, the wide-leggedness and the joy of body fluids." Criticizes Arno Frank from stern.de.

Jan Zier from stern.de also compares the show with another successful television show: "My best enemy, that's a bit like Schlag den Raab , just wacky, absurd, and absurd."

Manuel Nunez Sanchez fromquotemeter.de comes up with a positive conclusion: "All in all, Mein bester Feind got off to a good start and is convincing in principle on almost all levels that make a good show in the 21st century." However, he criticizes the long airtime of four hours : "Ultimately, the audience says goodbye more exhausted than enthusiastic, more relieved than hungry for more material from four hours of Joko and Klaas bombast."

The singing fictional character Ulmo Ocin , brought into being in the fifth episode , reached the German single charts with the song Mandalo . The associated video on YouTube was viewed more than 2.6 million times (as of April 6, 2020).
