The secondary school Hochheider Weg was a secondary school in the Oldenburg district of Ohmstede . Before that, the school was called Realschule Am Flötenteich .

The school was a socially effective school and participated in prevention programs against drugs and violence.

history

On the area between Flötenteich and high-Weg in the northeast of the city of Oldenburg of the later "School Center On Flötenteich" In 1952 as the nucleus of the first building for the British Forces Elementary School (bfes), where in the school junior , the eight to eleven year old children British occupation soldiers were briefed. A second building was completed five years later. This was intended as an infant school for five to seven year old children. In the building there were a total of 13 classrooms, a gym, an auditorium, a kitchen, several administrative rooms and various ancillary rooms. But the following year the building was rented to the city of Oldenburg by the British military.

On October 20, 1958, lessons for 135 children from Ohmstede and Donnerschwee began. The four classes belonged to the Ohmstede primary school as a branch. In 1961 the school moved to the British Forces Elementary School building . In return, they moved into the building of the state primary school. The now fully developed independent school was named Volksschule Am Flötenteich on April 1, 1961 . In 1963 the British military gave up Building II. From Easter 1964 this was also used by the elementary school. Three years later, the city of Oldenburg bought the property from the federal government for 1.77 million DM. In 1970 the first construction phase of the primary school Am Flötenteich was completed. At the time, this consisted of five classrooms, a course room, a technical room and a media room. This part of the building is used today by the secondary school.

In the 1971/72 school year, two secondary school classes were outsourced as a branch of what was then the Auf dem Ehnern secondary school ; two more followed in 1972/73. In 1972 the second construction phase of the new building for the primary school Am Flötenteich was completed. This part of the building contains a break hall, nine further classrooms as well as specialist and administrative rooms and is also used by the secondary school today. In 1973 the branch became independent under the name Realschule Am Flötenteich. The headmaster was Hans Martin Börner.

Since the end of September 2011, the Realschule am Hochheider Weg no longer cooperates with the Prevent agency and therefore no longer works with the “Sign” prevention project.

According to a decision by the City of Oldenburg, no new 5th graders were accepted from the 2010/2011 school year. After the 2013/2014 school year, the remaining classes had to leave the previous building and were housed in the Kreyenbrück secondary school. Since the former building of the secondary school is in a center with the IGS Flötenteich , the IGS uses the building from now on and can thus create more classes per year.

The Hochheider Weg secondary school has been officially closed since August 1st, 2015.

Student exchange with the partner schools

The participating students have a different linguistic approach in the two programs. The aim of the student exchange with a Polish school is to achieve a basic understanding with the help of English. When exchanging students with a French school, the goal is to try out and deepen the knowledge of French that you have already learned. The Polish partner school is in Daszewice (near Posen ) and the French school, Collège Jardin des Plantes , is in Poitiers .
