Kungfu (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kungfu was a Hamburg rock band, which was founded in 1998 without a name and disbanded in 2003 .

Band history

After the breakup of his band Selig in 1999 , guitarist Christian Neander founded Seeed Kungfu together with Jan Lafazanoglu (vocals), Sebastian Krajewski ( drums ) and Tobias Cordes ( electric bass ) . In the same year the first album was released.

In 2000 Cordes and Krajewski left the band to concentrate on their work at Seeed . Reiner "Kallas" Hubert took over the drums, Thomas Thomsen Merkel the bass. In the summer of 2003 the band split up because, according to their farewell letter, the individual members wanted to devote more time to their solo projects. Since the reunification of Selig, Christian Neander has been their guitarist again.

style

The first work " Glaskugelsammelbehälterkasten " remained stylistically close to Neander's first volume Selig, whereas the style changed significantly with the second album. On “ Kungfu ” the band played much harder rock, which can best be described as “German-language New Metal ”. The band's repertoire includes fast, rocky pieces, but also slow ballads (especially on the first album). The texts are all in German and some are very profound. Although the band toured Germany several times and gave a lot of concerts, they never really made a breakthrough.
